Middle Airports Corporation consists (MAC) of 7 airports, among which are DaNang International Airport and other 6 domestic airports including Phu Bai Airport (Hue), Cam Ranh Airport (Khanh Hoa), Pleiku Airport (Gia Lai), Phu Cat Airport (Binh Dinh), Tuy Hoa Airport (Phu Yen) and Chu Lai Airport (Quang Nam). With a widespread air route network from central coastal provinces to the Highland, we offer dozens of flights daily at our airports to remote regions and distant countries.
The 1996 Master Plan of developing Viet Nam’s airports system affirmed the role of the airports in the Central region and emphasized the key role of Da Nang International Airport in the early decades of the 21st century. The Plan indicated the following basic issues:
Da Nang International airport, one of the three international airports of Viet Nam, is an air gateway to the Central part of Viet Nam and an international transit airport in the region. The international transit function is believed to be a vital premise to the development of Danang city which is considered an ideal destination for intercontinental flights from continents across oceans. Da Nang is also located in the air traffic axis that is the world’s number tenth largest air transportation frequency.
Build Da Nang International Airport meeting the standard of a modern international airport capable of serving 5 million passengers a year.
Build a satellite airport of Da Nang called Chu Lai. Chu Lai plays an important role in supporting Da Nang and also in serving for the open economic zone and key industrial zone Dung Quat - Chu Lai.
Phu Bai airport and Nha Trang airport with their “golden” flights continue playing a role as the top international tourist airports in Viet Nam. In the near future, we can also develop two non-scheduled international flights for these two airports foreign visitors.
Other domestic airports play a role as important links to speed up the regional development.
Continue the modernization program of domestic airports by rebuilding, upgrading passenger terminals, reequipping with technical equipments to support air traffic control services and ground handling services, and upgrading the airside system capable of handling various types of aircrafts.
